Lovin'the Postie!

I received my first Scrap Swap today organised by Belinda and Kate. My swap partner was the very generous and  talented Whitney in Salt Lake City. Thank you so much Whitney for the fabulous scraps, origami paper and hair ties-I am very lucky. Hopefully, you'll receive mine soon.

Practising!

I have been..........

Making bags

Blog_sep22_002

This is made from a pattern that I purchased here (a lot of fantastic patterns and tutorials by the very talented Nicole) passed onto me by the also very talented Melanie. This was my first try at a tote-not my last though!

This other bag was an experiment to see which wool felted and which didn't. Most did this time!

I Felt Better the Second Time Round!

I had been admiring Annie's wonderful crocheted/felted bags and was delighted when she sent me the pattern she uses. Thank you again Annie. I quickly got to work and was happy with the before result.

I was eager to see the end result after a washing machine cycle. Well.......cycle after cycle and a bit of pummelling thrown in and my poor bedraggled bag just wouldn't felt!

P9100087

I promptly blamed our crappy Adelaide water! However, even though I had used 100% pure wool(Cleckheaton) it is not the type of wool that felts-no matter what you do, I discovered (so had Annie I later found out).

Not to be discouraged I got crocheting away and made another one!

P9160088

This time it definitely worked!

I sure felt better the second time around!

I have also finished the fourth bear.

P9160092

She joins the other three and now they are off on their adventures to hopefully bring some comfort to a child in Africa as part of the Mother Bear Project.

Wandering and Wondering!

Spent some time in Goolwa on Sunday. It is a quaint seaside town not far from us. We go there to visit one of our favourite garden shops, wander up and down the main street and visit the fabulous bakery!

We just had to buy a couple of these stunning kangaroo paws.

I had to stop and get a closer look at this quirky cottage.  I wonder who bought it and wonder who collected all these fabulous lids and stuck them on the front of the house??? I also wonder what happened to these rest of the casserole dishes?? Too much wondering is not good for the brain I think but one can never do enough wandering!!
