A Couple of Things

That hideous eel from the scary post has started to grow on me-NOT!Here is something much more endearing and a little easier on the eye!.....

I got the pattern from this lovely book.....It is filled with delicious Amigurumi goodness.

I have also finished two sets of coasters as I am in a coaster swap.

Talking about coasters, I received a couple of lovely ones from Fiona as part of her giveaway that I won !(as well as a couple of magazines). It was so nice to come home from my first day back at school to such a great parcel. Thank you so much Fiona-I am learning that the crafty blogging community is certainly a generous one!

I am looking forward to Sunday night's "This is... my collection!" I am sure there are some amazing things out there!!!!

This is......What Scares me!

I must admit I'm not that scared of many tangilble things-I quite like spiders and am fascinated by snakes and sharks(though I am definitely not on friendly terms with them!!! I am happy to admire them from afar!) HOWEVER, there is one creature that scares the living daylights out of me( and I've never even seen one in real life and would be happy if it stays that way!!) It is this terrifying beastie....

Eel

Even just putting this photo on my blog has sent my heart racing and made my palms sweat!!!! Apparently, there is a beauty in the movie The Deep starring Jacqueline Bisset and Nick Nolte-no thank you very much-that one is not on my list of "must watch" movies !!!!

I read that,"Green Morays can be found in shallow rocky and weed-covered marine waters, in estuaries and in deeper offshore waters. They are usually seen with only the head protruding from a crevice in the rocks or occasionally a person-made object such as a pipe." !!!!##**!*##!!!!And I live near the sea! Lucky there are none around here or I'd be heading for the hills!!

This Is....

I thought it would be fun to join the This is ......meme thought up by Three Buttons. This Sunday it is "This is my favourite cup."

Well here it is!

Cup_002

I bought it awhile ago from a lovely little antique shop.  I am very drawn to the Willow Pattern fable(even though it is a tragic one!) The story is explained here.

Lazy, Hazy Crazy Days of Summer!

100_0218

Hurry up slow coach! I'm tired of waiting for you!

Come on in-the water is just fine!

Image

Just how I like it! Not too cold, not too wavy, not too murky, not too rocky, not too seaweedy, not too choppy, not too busy, not too windy!!!!!JUST RIGHT!!! Fussy whatzit aren't I!!!!!

We have been spoiled with the conditions at the beach lately and I have been doing lots of swimming in the sea-real swimming, with goggles and everything! Like many Australian children, I grew up doing regular vacation swimming and swam my way through all the certificates you get. I have been a keen lap swimmer in the past but I have always been a bit sceptical when it comes to swimming in the ocean-creatures and all things lurking beneath have made me(with the help of my vivid imagination)somewhat  nervous! Floating and splashing about have never been a problem. My Surf Life Saver partner(who just happens to be half man, half dolphin)is often amused by my antics! But lately I have become a sea swimmer( as the water has been clear and calm (most days!).

This spot (probably the most photographed jetty ruin in South Australia)

was taken from inside one of these man made caves, is where I have been swimming.

I am lucky that this wonderful and special place is 500 metres from our home!

Last year Ballarat Patchwork had a challenge to make an apron entirely out of Dick and Jane Fabric. The prize was $50 worth of fabric of your choice.I put in an entry and was amazed that I was an equal winner with the lovely Annie from Flowergarden. We were both as thrilled as each other to share the prize but the funny thing was-we were the only two entries!!!LOL!!!

Inchies

I have had a bit of a collection of oldish papers, magazines and kids books for awhile ready to do some collages. Well, I have been inspired by Chrysti (who has a tutorial) and art junk girl. She amazingly set herself a 1000 squares project in 2007 and the final display is amazing! I am full speed ahead sorting, choosing, cutting, gluing-very therapeutic! Here are my first 12!

I wonder how many I'll get to???

Happy New Year!

Collage6

The celebrations, the visits and visitors, the eating and drinking are slowing down around here now!It is wonderful being on holidays and enjoying this time of year-though the weather has been scorching! Thank goodness we live near the beach as the morning and evening swims are great revivers. The vege patch is looking very sad indeed. As I went out to water this morning I was greeted with this sight!

Those who know me are aware that I am quite fond of this hibiscus!

I am off now to ring the garden centre on some advise on how to save the plant-don't really like my chances though:(

Here are some photos of more of the wonderful ornaments and postcards that I received from talented bloggers from around the world. Thank you so much!I would recommend the Christmas swaps I was involved in for next Christmas-they are such good fun!(I know, I know, we are all still recovering from this one and it is too soon to mentioning the "C" word again!!!!)
