Happy Birthday to Me!!

It was my birthday on Saturday but I had to wait until Monday to collect this....

Gocco goodness from good-ness!I have no idea how to use it yet but am sure I'll have fun working it out. I am looking forward to watching the Japanese instruction video! Thank you Leslie for the little goodies inside too.

I also bought a couple of Japanese magazines(any excuse to spoil myself I say!) Lots of lovely baggy goodness!

Another year older-time is a weird thing!!I think that if I was Queen of the Universe I would make it a rule that when it was your birthday you could stop time for awhile and catch up on all the things that you didn't have or make time to do,have a bit  of a rest and an energise and then start your next year fresh!!!(I am a Pisces you know-we don't always live in the "real" world!!!!!)

I am wearing my favourite bag that used to be "for best" but now it has turned into my everyday bag. I love the colours and the fact that it has a long strap so my hands are free!It kind of goes well in our bathroom too!

I arrived home somewhat frazzled after a particularly hectic day spent in the company of 50 six year olds who were a bit cranky mid week due to previous days of scorching hot weather, school swimming lessons and lo and behold-WIND(the weather type not the baked bean type!) I find that kids and wind are a strange combination-especially a hot northerly!

Anyway, I finally arrived home and noticed that I had packages!!Two packages!!Bless you Australia Post!!

I feel very lucky to have received these wonderful crafty goodies!I enjoyed feeling spoiled today-thank you so much! I love and appreciate my presents:)

An oldie but a goodie!

A sneak peek at my Heart Swap-these goodies are off to Scotland. Paula and I sent our parcels on the same day so we will see how long they each take! One of my ornaments for the Christmas swap only arrived last week!!!!(its destination was Italy)and I posted it on the first week in December so I hope this one gets there a little quicker!!!

When I was in Sydney last weekend I was blown away by the Powerhouse Museum. I felt like a country bumpkin as I oooed and ahhhed at just about everything as I had never seen anything quite like it before!!! I LOVED the Princess Diana exhibition(no photos to show as all photography was banned) but my favourite was this......

I was extremely moved by our Prime Minister's heartfelt apology today that acknowledged the wrongs of the past and contributed greatly to the healing process and continued support for Reconciliation.

This is...........Sunday Lunch!

This Sunday lunch was rather different than usual as I wasn't at home with my family. Instead I was in Sydney!!!Just for the weekend-how extravagant and different and exciting!!Years ago when two of my close friends and I were footloose and fancy free we shared a house together. Now we aren't able to catch up very often as Susie lives in Sydney. Anyway she was having a party for her fortieth birthday and my other friend and I decided to fly over for it-we were only there for one night!

Anyway, Sunday lunch was prawn linguine overlooking Darling Harbour! It was delicious and the view and atmosphere was wonderful. I haven't been to Sydney for over ten years and we had such a busy but fun time!Lots of laughs and a bit of sight seeing.

Back to real life tomorrow and my school lunch-more than likely a cheese and vegemite sandwich!

This is......My Collection (well one of them!)

Like many of us crafty collecting folk I have lots of things that just kind of metamorphosed into a collection!Living near the beach and loving nature I have a large collection of shells,driftwood,washed up glass and sea urchins. I have containers full of various gum nuts, pods and feathers. I have beads, buttons and quite a good fabric stash. I have lots of children's books and old magazines. I have even kept all of my birthday cards since I was five that my mum and dad gave me! This is becoming quite a collection! I remember my brother saying once that teachers are special kinds of squirrels!

But today I decided to share my collection of nests!

I am fascinated by how they are made and am impressed by the birds' use of "found objects." Included with their twigs, leaves,mud,blossom and branches I love to see all kinds of things cleverly woven in like hair, wool, string, dental floss, plastic, and paper. BUT the bird who made this nest gets the prize for being the perfect recycler!!

Yep! It is a teabag!!

When my sister and I were little mum always encouraged us to put our hair out the window when we cleaned out our hairbrushes so that the birds could use it for their nests and I still do this today!

This one is all soft and snuggly inside.

I wonder if I will be a minimalist when I grow up!!!! I very much doubt it!Thank you Leah for this week's suggestion-another really good one!
