This is......Looking out my Front Door!
Because of the hot,hot weather the poor garden is struggling. Our watering day is Sunday so at least it got a bit of a drink today. We bought another rainwater tank eight weeks ago and it still hasn't got a drop in it!!!! According to yesterday's paper...."It is the hottest March since 1940 and heatwave to continue!" We are so desperate for rain!
Anyway, as you look out the front door the main plant you see is a weeping rose called Bloomsfield Courage. Years ago when I was renting and didn't have my own garden, I saw a photo in a gardening magazine of this beautiful rose. I cut it out and kept it, always wanting one when I had my own garden. And now we have our very own Bloomsfield Courage! When it is in full bloom it looks quite spectacular.
Thank you to everyone who commented on my 50th post. I really appreciate your comments. I know I said I would have a lucky dip mid week for my giveaway but as you are fully aware mid week has well and truly gone!! Last week was just a bit of a hot and busy blur!!!!
So today I did the lucky dip-totally randomly using my new funny little chicken feet tongs that I got from my local monthly market yesterday!
And the winner is............
Have a fun week everyone and send us some rain if you have any!!

Your garden is looking as dry as mine. It's still very beautiful though.

Oh Jenny, I wish I could send you some rain or some of our bore water. I have turned it on today because our garden was looking a bit desperate. I've just been letting it run onto the base of each plant, lots of running in and out but less lost to evaporation by doing this. We live about 50m from the beach and our bore is only 3m below our house and it's cold fresh water, such a great treasure. We don't have a rainwater tank but all our roof water goes down through the sand to the water table below. There are no stormwater drains here, so all the rain just soaks in. Garden gets dry very quick because of the sand but we did in all the organic matter we produce and mulch the gardens really heavily with recycled green waste from the tip. I love your rose, it's just so old worlde looking. My roses have been good this summer because it hasn't been humid, no black spot at all which is very rare for summer. Must run, 16 minutes till walk time.

I too wish it would rain. Our poor garden is looking a bit sad.
The flowers at our front door only look nice as they get the boys' bath water.
Your rose is beautiful. My parents had one very similar in their front garden. It was about 25 years old, but it broke off at the base in a huge storm. My poor Mum cried!
I'll be sure she sees the picture of yours.

You poor thing, I've been seeing and hearing that Adelaide is so hot. I'm doing a rain dance for you now. Hope you get that new tank filled soon. Hard to believe you have such a beautiful plant amonst such a dry garden.
Here's crossing our fingers for rain soon. xx

Your rose is so marvellous, I can understand why you like it so much. I´m sorry to hear it is so awfully dry there. We had a particularly dry summer two years ago and everything in the garden was getting brown, there was nothing to do about it. So I can imagine that where you live it is much more trouble, because the climate is also hotter. I´ll try to push some rain to you from here far north.
Your chicken feet tongs are super. Such tongs were used a lot in Finland a couple of decennia ago, I think nowadays many people even don´t know what they are. They have such an elegance of the old times, I think. And congratulations to Maggie Pie, who won your lovely gocco prints! : )

Our garden is soooo dry, even the succulents are brown and grizzly. Today we hooked up the hoses to use the grey water from the washing machine. Those Chiken feet tongs must be lucky *grin* First time I've been picked a winner.Hooray!

how cool are your chicken tongs!! and that rose is spectacular!
Our garden is dry too... I wish we had a tank and some rain to go with it. We are lugging bath water to keep our veges alive.

How I wish I could send you some of the abundance of water from over here! And to think, so much of it goes to waste in this concrete jungle. That rose is beautiful when in bloom!
Congratulations on your 50th post! Sorry I'm late in commenting.. your gocco work looks fantastic!

I'll join in Kyla's Canadian Rain dance with the hope of sending some liquid your way. :)

Oh that rose!!! It is just too beautiful. I hope it pulls through the drought ok. We have spent the last few years watching our yard shrivel and go brown, but finally this year we have had rain. My 3 year old's favourite saying is "Mum, I love rain". It is the first time he has really got to witness tropical downpours. I hope you at least get some rain to fill your tanks soon. They make such a difference. Sending rain clouds your way :)

My local news reported last night that Adelaide is recording it's hottest consecutive number of days since 1930... You poor thing, have you got good airconditioning?? Hopefully soon there will be relief in sight and your poor garden will get the long awaited drink that it is needing... That rose is gorgeous I can see why you dreamed of one in your very own garden... Have you had to water it much through this hot spell??
Love the little chicken feet tongs... Too cute!!!

Our front garden looks worse. David doesn't bother watering it anymore, choosing instead to try and maintain the back garden. Here's hoping that the change is on it's way. I tried looking up the bureau of meteorology but they haven't updated yet.
phew - it's warm in my kitchen - i'm working up a sweat just typing - but at least we have one airconditioned lounge!
keep cool
