This is.......My Favourite Book

I found Daisy in lala land's choice excruciatingly difficult this week as I'm sure many others did too. As an avid reader and lover of all books it was near impossible!.This special book is an amazing tale of a dog but is more than that. It made me laugh and made me cry and is beautifully written-an absolute joy to read and reread. So here is my choice.....

I just LOVE it!Thanks Dee-a great choice!

This is.......my Latest Discovery

I have spent a bit of time in the garden these last few days and have been giving my latest discovery a real workout!

Aquaspikes!!!!!

Discovery_009

They look like little gnome hats with holes in that you connect to used juice containers. You fill them with water or liquid fertilizer and they water right down to the roots!

Just Hanging Out

Am so enjoying the Autumn sunshine and the slower pace that holidays bring.

Saw this great idea on Loobylu's blog and just happened to have some saved toilet rolls.

Corella Frenzy

At a certain time of the year, when the pine cones are "just right", we are visited by corellas-LOTS of them!!!!! If ever you have seen the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds" it seems a bit like that! Walking up a street near my home on Saturday I was confronted with this sight....

Standing near that huge pine tree was an experience for the senses! Listening to the sound of hundreds of birds munching and crunching and stuffing themselves full of pine cone seeds while been pelted by their debris was memorable indeed! This is what they're after...

This is what is left behind when they have finished....

You can understand why the farmers and property owners hate them as they can strip and orchard and ruin a crop in minutes! One local farmer has trained a falcon to circle around where they are and scare them off.

Our next door neighbour has a huge gum tree that shadows our backyard corner. The corellas decided to pay us a visit on Sunday!!The noise was deafening!

Some stopped for a rest or a bit of a canoodle!!

This is.......my Perfect Dinner Party Guest List

The idea being you can invite six guests dead or alive to a dinner party hosted by you and your partner. Thanks  Lily and Agathe this week was another good one!

My dinner party would have to have a bit of class so the lovely Audrey Hepburn would be a definite.

Annex2020hepburn20audrey_022

I am sure she would put my next guest Vincent Van Gogh at ease (and I think we would all just want to give him a hug!!!)

Vincent_van_gogh_16

I am sure Billy would have a few things to say!

Billyconnollypotter

Maybe he will have met his match where wit and a feisty spirit is involved(though I don't know if she would be too familiar with his "colourful" language. Pocahontas would also be my guest.

She would have plenty to talk to Sir David Attenborough about as she would have lived in harmony with nature and seen the world in it's raw and untainted state.

My final guest would be the Dalai Lama who I'm sure we would all be mesmerized by!

My partner,(who just happens to be a wonderful cook) would whip up something delicious while we sipped on wine from Fox Creek and chatted and laughed and relaxed out in the warm Autumn sun. Something like this would be nice!!!

Unfortunately, (unless I win the lottery tonight and can employ a dust, dirt, grime remover, washer, cleaner and general dog's body) I simply MUST do a bit of this....

On Starashan's blog was a link to this very intriguing challenge where you cover a matchbox and put something in it. I thought I'd enjoy having a go at a few(though not daily!!)Thanks to Paperiaarre for coming up with the idea and starting a Fickr group.

This is.....my KnickKnack/Jewellery Box

I have lots of bits and pieces of necklaces and bracelets and trinkets that I keep in a drawer that is not very special at all(and rather messy I must say!) But...

last year I received a present from a family whose two boys were newly enrolled at our school. I was lucky enough to have one of them in my class. The mum and her sons came out from Korea so the boys could  be educated here in Australia. The Dad remained behind in Korea to work. The boys and their mum knew very little English but were keen to learn our language and our ways. About half way through the year the Dad visited for a few days and I met him for the first time. During this visit I was presented with an exquisitely wrapped parcel that he had brought with him from Korea. This beautiful box has now become a special place to store my earrings. It is Mother-of-Pearl Lacquerware that is a traditional art form in Korea.

I felt very honoured to have been presented with such a wonderful gift.

I was a lucky duck again this week as I received my amazing Easter Swap from Tracy (what a cute bunny hey!!!)

And a lovely thank you package filled with fabulous goodies from Maggie Pie.

The generosity of people out there is heart warming. It is late now-this bunny has the right idea!

Phone Happy Snaps

I got a new fancy mobile phone a couple of months ago and haven't really spent the time working out how to use it to it's full potential (and I probably never will!!!). As long as I know how to send an SMS and answer a call then that is ok with me. This one is a walkman, can connect to the internet and all sorts of other wangle fangle doo da things!

Anyway, I found the taking a photo part was easy and I was pretty impressed with the quality.
